A horoscope is a basic tool for making astrological forecasts. To cast your horoscope, your exact time, place, and date of birth is required. Once you have this information, mathematical calculation will reveal the sign in which each planet, along with the sun and moon is placed; in addition to the zodiac signs. Your horoscopic chart is unique to you, as it is based on your exact time, place, and date of birth; and once cast can be used to make astrological predictions for the rest of your life.
With your unique chart, you can predict your own future. To understand your horoscopic chart, you need to learn astrology. Astrology is just a language – the Akashic language, the language of the sky, of the heavens. Learning astrology is just like learning some new language. Some find it easy to learn a new language, and some find it difficult.
Reading Your Chart
Fire, Earth, Air, and Water are the four elements in astrology, with each of the signs of the Zodiac falling into one of these groups:
• Fire - Aries, Leo, Sagittarius
• Earth - Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn
• Air - Gemini, Libra, Aquarius
• Water - Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
Further, there are three Modes – Cardinal, Fixed, and Mutable:
• Cardinal signs are forceful - Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn
• Fixed signs are dependable - Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, Aquarius
• Mutable signs are flexible and changeable - Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, Pisces
When first reading your chart, look for the Rising sun. It is a sign rising on the eastern horizon at your time of birth, and would be in the 9 o’clock position on your chart. This is the sign of your personality – how you look, how you impress others, and how others think of you. You will need the degree of the Rising Sun for advanced astrological readings. The sun and the moon are not planets but are grouped as such for ease in communications. The degree of the planets has no bearing on how they affect you, but are for their placement within the sign.
The North Node is a point in space that is related to the moon. It is an indication where you are most confident and comfortable in life. If your North Node, at the time of your birth, were in Gemini, you would be successful in Gemini type of occupations, such as teaching, writing, or at intellectual or artistic gatherings. The South Node is opposite of North Node and indicates areas in life you are uncomfortable with.
The Natal aspects of your horoscope are the way the sun, moon and planets relate to one another. The way they react to one another is important, and very helpful in making crucial choices. You need to become familiar with these terms when you are learning astrology.
Cusps are the signs on the outer rim of your horoscope, and indicate the type of luck each house of your chart will bring you. Each chart of the horoscope being unique, the process of explaining the basic horoscope is quite a lengthy process.

The guru is Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh (Shiva), veneration to the Guru who is Parabrahman manifest.
Today is Guru Purnima - the day in Hindu calendar where “gurus” or teachers are worshipped and venerated. Guru Purnima is traditionally celebrated on the day of the full moon (Purnima) in the Hindu month of Aashad. It is also known as Vyaas Purnima in veneration of sage Ved Vyas.
It was the great sage Vyasa, son of a fisherwoman, who classified the accumulated spiritual knowledge of the Vedas under four heads - Rig, Yajur, Saama and Atharva. To him goes the credit of composing the authentic treatise of Brahma-sootras to explain the background of Vedas. He carried the stories of our great saints and the spiritual and moral lessons to the common masses thru the eighteen Puranas and the Mahabharata. The Mahabharata includes the Bhagvad Geeta - the immortal song of God, another priceless contribution by Vyaasa Muni. Vyasa was the original guru so it is fitting that Guru Purnima honors him and all the gurus following him
So it got me thinking of what a Guru means to us in our lives….
The word “Guru” is derived from the Sanskrit root “Gu” means darkness or ignorance and “Ru” meaning the remover of that darkness. Therefore one who removes darkness of our ignorance is a Guru. All our teachers are our Gurus
According to the Bhagvad Geeta, however clever a student is he can never attain complete knowledge on his own, and a Guru is essential to the student’s ability to learn.
So on this day of Guru Purnima, I surrender myself at the feet of all my Gurus hoping I gain atleast a small percentage of their knowledge

You are the wife of Brahma, Rudra and Vishnu and the mother of the world. The sage Narada sings your praises and the Sun and the Moon meditate on you.

Durga Puja is traditionally performed in Bengal and other parts of Eastern India during Dussehra or VijayaDasami.
She is Mother Goddess, Shakti (or the divine force) and an incarnation of Parvati, Shiva’s wife. She was manifested to kill Mahishasura, a powerful demon who could not be defeated by man or God. Only a woman could kill him. The victory of Durga over Mahishasura (good over evil) is celebrated on VijayaDasami.

Explanation:
Goddess Parvati is the consort of Lord Siva and is worshipped as Sakti. The Puranic literature describes her as having many forms, including Durga, Candi, Kali and Uma.While Siva symbolizes the efficient cause of the creation, Sakti symbolizes the material cause.
Translation:
The one who is the auspiciousness of all that is auspicious (sarvamangalamangalye), the consort of Siva (Sive), who is the means of accomplishing all desires sarvarthasadhake), who is the refuge of all (saranye), the three eyed one(tryambake),the fair complexioned one(Gouri), Salutations to you, Narayani(narayani namostute). Salutations to the consort of Sri Narayana (Sri Lakshmi Devi), who is all auspicisous, who is the Mastress of all, who blesses devotees succeed in their efforts and who is the refuge of all.
